VALENTINE ESTEVE

Valentine Esteve is a multidisciplinary French artist whose work spans painting, embroidery, sculpture, ceramics, and installation. Her practice is grounded in a quiet yet persistent interrogation of time, memory, and perception. The artist seeks to capture fleeting sensations and suspended moments with a formal restraint that heightens their emotional resonance. From shadow play on urban walls to sunbeams slicing through studio windows, Esteve constructs a poetic language rooted in the ephemeral, turning everyday phenomena into contemplative visual encounters.

Born in Boston in 1996 and currently based in Aubervilliers, France, Esteve is a graduate of the Beaux-Arts de Paris, with an academic year at the National University of Arts in Seoul that further expanded her cross-cultural outlook. She is currently the co-directer of Le Houloc, an artist-run space and collective studio, where she continues to cultivate a collaborative and process-focused approach to artmaking. Her work is marked by an introspective minimalism, often employing repetition and long durations of manual labor, such as embroidery or hand-sculpted ceramics. These acts serve as a form of remembrance and emotional anchoring.

Esteve has exhibited widely across France and Europe, including recent solo exhibitions at Galerie Lazarew and Galerie Adjacent, and has participated in major fairs such as Luxembourg Art Week and the Affordable Art Fair Brussels. She was the recipient of the Adjacent Art Prize in 2023 and a finalist for the Sisley Art Prize in 2022. Her work has been featured in prominent group shows such as Les Envisibles, Frontières, and Jeunes Pousses, consistently drawing attention for its quiet radicality and emotional depth.
