OVERVIEW:
Pedro Gutierres (Porto Alegre, Brazil, 1987) is a contemporary artist based in São Paulo, with a practice spanning over two decades. Working primarily between drawing and painting, his work investigates tensions between nature and urban life, exploring states of conflict, contrast, and coexistence within contemporary landscapes.
Rooted in painting traditions and handmade processes, Gutierres’ work is nonetheless informed by visual languages such as photography, video, and digital image manipulation. These influences shape his compositional structures and surface textures, where gestural marks and layered forms suggest shifting environments that oscillate between organic and constructed worlds.
Gutierres has held solo exhibitions in Brazil and Germany, and his work is part of the historical collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rio Grande do Sul (MAC-RS), as well as other significant private collections.
